A Family-Friendly Cd celebrating
Houston's historic landmarks and Houston's 175th Birthday!   Houston’s award-winning family band, Leah White & The Magic Mirrors, has teamed up with Houston preservationist and family enrichment guide Sarah Gish of Gish Creative to give a special gift to Houston for its 175th birthday: an album of songs about historic Houston landmarks called HOUSTON: OUR ROOTS ARE STRONG. Our goal is to inspire and educate youth about our City's history and need for preservation.Families love music and since it’s a perfect vehicle for education, local preservation groups support this project which has become not only an homage to preservation but also to the story of Houston itself. The August 2011 release has been timed to coincide with Houston’s 175th Birthday, the month that former New Yorkers and brothers John Kirby and Augustus Chapman Allen purchased the land. By sponsoring and learning about this project, we encourage families to engage with our City, protect landmarks, and understand that historically, Our Roots Are Strong!
